ROYCE DA 5’9 » : « EMINEM TECHNICALLY IS BETTER THAN EVERYBODY »

Unless you’re living under a rock you should know by now that « Bad Meets Evil » aka Royce and Eminem ‘ll drop  an EP next week. Last week I had the chance to have a great interview by phone with Royce Da 5’9 ». I asked him about his « Top 3 MC’s » and here is what he had to say 

« I’ll say Eminem, 2 Pac and Biggie. That’s actually easy. If you look at it from a MC standpoint Em’ technically is better than everybody. The thing that made 2 Pac and Biggie great, and I’ll treat it lightly when I say this, because a lot of people might disagree because, you know we’re talking about two people who are no longer with us. So I say this with all due respect : 2 Pac and Biggie the things that made them great : the storytelling, just the emotion that they bring wich is the reason why I absolutely love both of them.

 Eminem can do the same thing but he can do it bringing accross complex syllables. He can do it being a little bit more technical. A little bit more « MC’s with it ». Tupac vulnerable so he lets his inhibitions go. Biggie is more like a poet….And that’s just my personal opinion.

Really, if you think about it there is no « Top three ». Because everything boils down to a matter of preference. I prefer the way Em raps because I’m a rapper. A lot of kids might not get the point that I make and I totally respect that. And you’ve got to throw Jay-Z in here too. You can’t really say : Eminem, Tupac, Biggie without saying Jay-Z. That’s why I’m saying is kinda like impossible to make a Top 3. It can’t be a top 3 with all these great minds exists. You have to say like a Top 10. And even then once you put Kool G Rap, Rakim and KRS One…It’s like you can’t even have a Top 10. Everything ‘ll come down to what you prefer.I just prefer the way Em comes accross because he’s phenomenal to me. Everybody ‘ll be like « oh that’s just because he’s his best friend » But no : It is what it is. »
